  1. Vescom America, manufacturers of vinyl wallcoverings and upholstry for the commercial market utilizing both wovens and nonwovens materials relocated its operations from New York to their new home in Henderson, NC. All new state-of-the-art production equipment will be installed at the Vance County, NC site assuring Vescom's position as technological leader in this industry.
  2. MeadWestvaco, the global packaging company with products such as AT-A-GLANCE, Five-Star and Cambridge, will open a new packaging innovation center on North Carolina State University’s Centennial Campus, company officials announced today. The center will bring 200 additional jobs to the campus and an investment of $14 million over the next four years.
  3. Jacob Holm Industries, a nonwoven manufacturer, will locate its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Asheville creating 70 new jobs and $40 million in investment.
  4. Livedo Corporation will locate its first U.S. facility in Wilson investing an estimated $35 million and creating 75 new jobs in the state during the next three to five years. This is the company’s first facility outside of Japan.
  5. A.F.G. Wipes Inc., headquartered in Israel, will locate its first U.S. operation in Rockingham County, bringing 200 jobs and a $25 - $30 million manufacturing facility over the next four years.
  6. Spuntech Industries, Inc., a nonwoven manufacturer, will locate its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Roxboro, creating 60 new jobs and $23.5 million in investment.
  7. Avgol America Inc. will expand its manufacturing facility in Mocksville, adding 40 jobs during the next three years and investing $27 million into the area.
  8. PGI will expand its operations in Mooresville, creating 49 jobs and investing $40 million in the area during the next two years.
  9. Goulston Technologies and Polyvelannounced that they have formed a joint venture to manufacture and market melt additives for the global synthetic fiber industries and non-woven industries.
    The venture will bring together the combined expertise of over 50 years of knowledge of plastic compounding and fiber processing. Goulston Technologies, Inc. of Monroe, NC is recognized as the
    world leader in fiber lubricant technology for the manufacturing and processing of synthetic fibers and non-wovens. Polyvel, Inc. of Hammonton, NJ is a leader in the engineered compounding of liquid
    additives for the plastics and fiber industries. Together they will be offering unique melt additives that will provide significant added value for their customers.
  10. DuPont announced its decision to manufacture DuPont™ Sorona® polymer at its Kinston plant. The corn-derived polymer requires 30 to 40 percent less energy to produce and is used in clothing, carpeting, upholstery, plastics and other items. DuPont has operated on the Kinston site since 1953. The new jobs will be primarily skilled manufacturing positions that pay an average of $680 a week plus benefits, which is above the Lenoir County average of $495 a week, not including benefits.
